Barry's Coilgun Mark IV
This is my engineering notebook for the Coilgun Mark IV, a 150-joule medium energy coilgun demonstrator.
This notebook describes how the various portions were designed, along with the choices and trade-offs. We avoid statements like "here is what I used" or "here is how it looks" because that would be of little help to the next coilgun designer. We specifically avoid "this part was chosen because it was handy" -- this coilgun is not constrained by a tight budget. If we need a specific part or rating, then we'll buy it.
The intended audience are people having a basic introduction to electronics, physics and algebra.
